Nehemiah - standing in the gap

Nehemiah’s Prayer
Nehemiah’s Intercession for Jerusalem wall two be built
(Nehemiah – 1 to 7)
1) The burden of his intercession (1:1-3)
            a) Jerusalem was in great trouble and disgrace
            b)The wall of Jerusalem was broken down
             c)And its gates have been burned with fire
2)The burden about his province/nation made him to (1:4)
             a)Sit and weep
             b)Mourn and fast for some days
             c)And prayed before the God of Heaven
3)The content of his intercession with GOD (1:5 -11)
             a) He acknowledged who GOD is (1:5)
                   i) God of heaven
                   ii)Great and awesome God
                   iii)God who keeps his covenant of love with those who love and obey his commands
               b)He humbled himself before GOD (1:6)
                   i)Hear the prayer your servant
               c) He prayed day and night (1:6)
                    i)For the people of Israel
               d)He confessed the sins of the Israelites, of himself and his father’s house saying (1:6)
                    i)We acted very wickedly toward you
                    ii)We have not obeyed the command, decrees and laws which Moses gave
               e)Nehemiah remembered the instructions which God gave to Moses (1:8 -11)
               f)Nehemiah delighted in revering GOD’s name
               g)Nehemiah pleaded to GOD for success, by granting him favor in the presence of the king Artaxeres)4) Nehemiah continued to pray
Nehemiah’s first impulse always was to pray. He prayed
               a)To find favor in the eyes of king (1:11)
               b)Before answering the king (2:4)
               c)When injustice and evil things were done to the poor people (5:9,19)
               d)When he faced opposition (6:9,14)
               e)For God to remember the things which he did for the people of Israel
(13: 14, 22, 29, 31)
5)The outcome of his intercession
               a)The walls of Jerusalem was completely built in 52 days inspite of determined opposition
                b)He redistributed the remnants of Jerusalem to the people of Israel
               c)He was made as governor for twelve years
                d)He was made as governor of Judah for the second term.
